Some definitions:

Degradable Plastic: Plastics in which the primary degradation depends on any combination of light, heat, stress and air.

Biodegradable Plastic: A plastic in which the degradation results from the action of naturally occurring microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae.

Compostable Plastic: A plastic that undergoes degradation by biological processes during composting to yield CO2, water, inorganic compounds and biomass at a rate consistent with other compostable materials and leaves no visible, distinguishable or toxic residue.

Recyclable Petroleum Based Plastic - eg. PET: Plastic Resins that are not considered "Degradable" or Biodegradable/Compostable", however, are 100% recyclable to re-use as plastic containers, or other plastic products.

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) - Plastic Resin is a strong, but lightweight form of clear polyester used to make containers for soft drink, juices, alcoholic drinks, water, edible oils, household cleaners and other food and non food applications
